About Me
I am a licensed psychologist (MA license #10695; NY license 024011) providing psychotherapy to adults of all ages. I specialize in treating anxiety, depression and other mood disorders, relationship and personality difficulties, trauma and major mental illness. I have expertise in treating individuals who have found other forms of treatment unhelpful or ineffective.
I work from an Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP) approach, and am an IEDTA-Certified Teacher in ISTDP. This model helps individuals take an honest look at the feelings and experiences that they have not been able to shed, so that they can finally move beyond them and live the life they want.
I am on the faculty of Harvard Medical School, where I teach and supervise early-career mental health professionals. I am also the founder of the New England Center for ISTDP, and have presented internationally on ISTDP, including annual engagements in Norway and Sweden.
I did most of my clinical training at Harvard Medical School and received doctoral and post-doctoral fellowships at Harvard/Cambridge Health Alliance, Harvard/Massachusetts Mental Health Center, and Tufts University. I have a PhD from Northeastern University, an MA from Boston College, and a BA from The University of Michigan.
In addition to my clinical work, I maintain an active academic career and have published on topics covering ISTDP, severe mental illness, ethics, neuroscience, and psychotherapy. I have also taught graduate and undergraduate level courses at universities across Greater Boston, including Northeastern University, Boston University, and Boston College. My first book, The Fundamentals of Davanloo’s ISTDP, co-written with John Rathauser and Mikkel Reher-Langberg, is forthcoming.
