For their new case study group hosted by the Emotion Center in Copenhagen, Denmark, Jonathan Entis and Mikkel Reher-Langberg will be collaborating in a format inspired by artist talks. Each monthly session features a 45-70 minute video presentation of a single case from Jonathan’s practice. During this presentation, Mikkel’s role will be that of a discussant, drawing out the major themes and technical points of the case. Together, the two will engage in running commentary and discussion, highlighting and elaborating key aspects of the work presented to deepen participant’s understanding. Participants will gain a solid grasp of the central principles, techniques, and stylistic emphases of Jonathan’s work. Among these emphases are: keeping a tight focus on all aspects of the resistance, extended and frequent use of the head-on collision, mobilizing the patient’s full will in the service of the therapeutic task, the balance of focus on unconscious feelings and resistance, one-person vs. two-person psychologies, the role of pressure as an aspect of head-on collisions, the role of dynamic interpretations in ISTDP, how to manage projections, when and how to address tactical defenses, and others. The last 30 minutes of each session will feature group discussion, allowing the audience to ask questions, share their reflections, and deepen their learning. See here for more details and to register.
